A Message From Our 2010 MIFLC Conference President

The 60th Annual MIFLC Conference hosted by Radford and its Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures on October 7-9, 2010, promises to be an exciting conference. As a Signature Event of Radford’s centenary celebration, it will celebrate the university’s commitment to the Humanities in general and to the instruction of foreign languages in particular at the Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center. With its focus on the centenary of the birth of Cuba’s eminent author, Lezama Lima, the conference will also be bringing scholars of international renown to the area of Roanoke and the New River Valley. Also on MIFLC’s 60th program will be a celebration of the career of a luminary of Hispanic criticism in this country, University of Virginia’s own esteemed professor, Donald Shaw. This year the conference will also feature an incisive new look into the world of Francophone film, literature, and culture. Capping the proceedings, the keynote speaker will be the former president of the American Council for the Teaching of Foreign Languages, professor Ray Clifford, who will speak on the challenges of foreign language instruction in the new millenium. Look forward to seeing you at this 60th anniversary MIFLC event!

Thank you for taking the time to visit.

Blas Hernandez

2010 MIFLC President
