Call of Papers

The Mountain Interstate Foreign Language Conference invites you to attend its 60th annual meeting at Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center in Roanoke, VA.

 

 

Submissions of abstracts are welcome in the following languages, literatures and cultures:

 

Catalan Italian
Chinese Japanese
Francophone

 Luso-Brazilian

French

Spanish

German

Spanish-American

 

We are especially interested in papers dealing with the following topics, approaches and issues in the profession:

 

Technology and Language Learning

Film Studies Women’s Studies

Literature and the Arts

Latin American Studies Service Learning

English as a Second Language

Study Abroad Eco-Criticism

Translation and Interpretation

 

 

 In addition to these sessions, we invite you to participate in roundtable discussions with invited guest speakers on these and other issues of importance to the profession. There will be a special celebration for the 100th anniversary of the Cuban poet, novelist, and essayist Jose Lezama Lima.

 

Papers may be written in the language with which the reader feels most comfortable; however, they are limited to no more than 20 minutes (eight to nine doubled-spaced pages). Papers of authors in absentia will not be read.

Anyone interested in reading an original paper or submitting a proposal for an organized panel should submit a one-page abstract (in the form of a MS WORD attachment only, please) by e-mail to bhernandez@radford.edu by March 15, 2010.
