The Mountain Interstate Foreign Language Conference invites you to attend its 64th annual meeting at Furman University in Greenville, SC. Submissions of abstracts are welcome in the following languages, literatures, and cultures:

• Catalan
• Chinese
• Francophone
• French
• German
• Italian
• Japanese
• Luso-Brazilian
• Spanish
• Spanish-American


We are especially interested in papers dealing with the following topics, approaches, and issues in the profession:

• Technology and Language Learning
• Literature and the Arts
• English as a Second Language
• Translation and Interpretation
• Film Studies
• Women's Studies
• Latin American Studies
• Service Learning
• Francophone Studies
• Eco-Criticism
• Study Abroad


In addition to these sessions, we invite you to attend roundtable discussions or plenary addresses with invited guest speakers on these and other issues of importance to the profession. Papers may be written in the language with which the reader feels most comfortable; however, they are limited to no more than 20 minutes (eight to nine doubled-spaced pages). Papers of authors in absentia will not be read. Deadline for submissions: March 17, 2014. If you are interested in reading an original paper or proposing an organized panel, please submit a 250-word abstract (in the form of a MS Word attachment) to:
